As busy as he is, he still takes time to appreciate his humble beginnings in the kitchen as a dishwasher in a local steakhouse. He recalls his first experience cooking in the kitchen, as a rush, one that only comes from the fast pace and high pressure of being on the line. From that point on, Chef Thompson was hooked. Since then, his path has led through many different experiences which have developed and refined his culinary and kitchen operational skills.
Chef Thompson’s adventure has afforded him time at Local Bar & Grill, Grantville Landing, San Diego Hotel, Marina Inn & Yacht Club, Hyatt Hotels, Elario’s at Summerhouse Inn, Paragon Steak house chain, and most recently at Viejas Casino. Each venue has contributed to his continued growth and development, while enhancing his culinary knowledge, organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality. With his experience and the building of an outstanding team, Chef Thompson won a Gold Medal in an intra-organizational culinary Olympics, and received the Five Diamond Award for one of the top ten restaurants in the United States from the American Academy of Restaurant & Hospitality Sciences. Additionally, he has enjoyed two consecutive Gold Medallions awarded by the San Diego Chapter of the California Restaurant Association.
Chef Thompson continues his career with great passion and dedication to the culinary arts.
