George Stella, host of Food Network’s Low Carb and Lovin’ It , is a pioneering chef who prides himself on teaching consumers the secrets of delicious, low carb eating.

On his show, Low Carb and Lovin’ It, George reveals his secrets to weight loss, featuring a variety of healthy, delectable and, most importantly, satisfying recipes, delivered in his typically passionate style. From snacks to desserts, breakfast to Sunday dinner, Chinese to Italian, no meal is off-limits!

His first book, George Stella’s Livin Low Carb—Family Recipes Stella Style, will be published by Simon & Schuster in January.

George Stella's career in the food industry started at a young age while living in Deerfield Beach, Florida. While his first job was as a dishwasher at the age of 15, George quickly found himself working at some of Florida's leading restaurants.

In the early 80's he worked as an Executive Chef for the Philips Petroleum Company showcase restaurant, 'Windows on the Green' located in the Pier 66 Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. George would then go on to work with the owner of the famous 'MARK'S' restaurants, Chef Mark Militelo. Together they brought the first California Cuisine menu to the state of Florida, and also opened 'Café Max' in Pompano Beach.

Besides working as a successful chef, George Stella extended his creative energy into other areas of the food industry. George and his wife Rachel provided low carb catering services on demand while residing in Florida and are in process of moving the business to Ct where they now live. George also presented cooking demonstrations alongside celebrities such as Paul Pruhdomme, and Julia Child in order to promote Florida seafood for the State of Florida, Department of Natural Resources, and Division of Seafood Marketing in Tallahassee.

Stella became interested in a low carb lifestyle when, at 40 years old, he was on the wrong side of 20 years of obesity. Weighing in at 465 pounds, he experienced heart problems, hospitalizations, and prescription drugs. However, in 2001, he discovered Dr. Atkins's New Diet Revolution, a book that altered his attitude toward eating forever. Through controlled carbohydrate eating Stella shed 240 pounds and, despite the ever-present temptations that accompany the life of a chef, he is still losing weight today. Eager to spread the good news, Stella and his wife, Rachel, have come up with dozens of low-carb recipes for everything from pizza to muffins and help their clients rid their pantries of carbohydrate-laden food.

A family man, Stella’s immediate family includes his wife of more than 20 years, Rachel, and two sons Christian and Anthony.
