Chef Jimmy Sneed operated the famous Frog and the Redneck in the historic Shockoe Slip area of Richmond, Virginia. It is now closed, but was included in the "Best New Restaurants in America" by Esquire Magazine. In October of 2000, in the same magazine, John Mariani listed Jimmy Sneed as "one of America’s finest chefs". Jimmy’s style is best described as "Modern Regional American" and incorporates his formal French training with the abundance of local food products.

His first true culinary experience came while preparing for international law in Paris, in 1974. He had taken a job translating for the American students at Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. After a year in Paris, Jimmy returned to the United States and pursued a career in cooking.
