I did not always love to cook, as anyone who has read the introduction to my first cookbook Ciao Italia, can tell you. I grew up in an Italian home where I learned about traditional Italian food and its preparation while I helped in the kitchen. However, like many young people, I considered cooking a chore and did not appreciate the importance of food as a means of bringing families and friends together.

After graduating from college, I taught high school for several years. I moved into the world of cooking, Italian food in particular, after making my first trip to Italy many years ago. This trip inspired me to start my own catering business. Since then I have studied in Italy. I now travel there at least twice a year to learn more and to teach in cooking schools in different regions of Italy.

Now I try to share my love for my heritage with all of you. I feel like I am really accomplishing my goal when I get wonderful comments and letters from you. Of course, like a good teacher, I learn so much from you as well.

Outside of my television series, I have appeared on many network television shows including "The Today Show", "Regis and Kathy Lee", "QVC", "Discovery", "Regis and Kelly", "Lifetime" and "The Food Network".
